The month of ‘Margazhi’ ~ dwindles and paves way to Thai, January 14th Thai Pongal.
Tamil poets likened the month Margazhi ~ to that of Mangai ~ a young woman.
From the mellowed mists and season bringing festivities of every kind, the month of December is eagerly awaited and celebrated around the globe in several heritages.
The month is that brings Christmas; in this bicentennial year of English Poet and Author Charles Dickens, his memorable phrase “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year,” helps revive and keep the specialty of December spirit every month.
As the month Margazhi departs, here are two Tamil movie melodies manifesting the month:
[I] In the lyrics of Evergreen Poet Vaali.
Malaiyil Yaro ~ Music: Ilaiyaraja ~ The song is said to have been composed to show the sweetness of the voice of singer Swarnalatha. She passed away at the age of 37 in September 2010 due to a lung illness. With the lasting voice and short but brilliant musical journey, Swarnalatha won several awards, including the National Award in 1996 for her song “Porale Ponnuthayi” in the Tamil film “Karuthamma”
[II] In the lyrics of Vairamuthu
Margazhi Poove ~ Being yours make dreams aplenty ~ In praise of the nature in December ~ Music: A.R. Rahman

Sad part of the first song is the singer is no more.
Sweet voice – so tender and well controlled – Thanks for this. Besides a very fitting one for Markazhi, pity such a person had to die so young at age.
I am still listening to her sweet songs!
