Norway to follow UN terror listing

N
orway has decided that in future it will follow the UN terrorism list, rather
than that of the European Union, Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr
Stoere has announced.

These lists contain names of persons and organizations considered to
have connections with acts of terrorism.
- Taking all aspects into consideration, we have decided to follow one
such list, namely UN's terror list, Stoere said to the newspaper
Klassekampen.

He said the Government has felt that to continue following the EU list
might create difficulties for Norway's role in various peace processes.

- We will continue our close cooperation with the EU with regard to
terrorism, but we are not members of the EU, and have not contributed to
the drawing up of this list, the Norwegian Foreign Minister said.
