Kalkat to be nominated to Rajya Sabha
The Indian Government is likely to nominate retired Army general H.R.S. Kalkat,
who served as the IPKF Commander in Jaffna, to Rajya Sabha, The Hindu
reported.
The paper said that his nomination may be in the eminent persons category.
The paper reports that Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kalkat had a distinguished military career,
culminating in a long tenure as the chief of the Army's Eastern Command.
Gen. Kalkat, who is from the Maratha Light Infantry regiment, has held all
important command and staff appointments.
